He advises clients on coverage disputes, risk assessment, indemnity resolution, and insurance contract negotiations. Mr. Jackson’s practice also includes helping clients navigate multi-party indemnity challenges and complex insurance-related contracts.
Mr. Jackson began his legal career as a commercial and regulatory litigator at a large international firm, focusing on transactional disputes and regulatory investigations. Before joining Cain & Skarnulis, he was a partner at a boutique firm, representing London syndicate insurers in various U.S. and international matters.
Mr. Jackson has represented clients insuring a wide range of professions including law firms, technology companies, architects and engineers, accountants, manufacturers, consultants, and countless small businesses. His expertise includes coverage litigation and alternative dispute resolution, such as negotiation, mediation, and arbitration. Mr.Jackson has assisted insurers and self-insured clients manage substantial litigation portfolios, resolving both coverage disputes and underlying insured claims.
Representative Matters:
- Negotiated a favorable settlement in a complex $80M legal malpractice claim, resulting in significant cost savings and risk mitigation for both the insurer and the insured.
- Successfully resolved multiple large business interruption claims related to global cybersecurity incidents, enabling client continuity and recovery and reducing long-term expense.
- Assisted a major pharmaceutical manufacturer in securing approximately $600 million in bespoke litigation-risk insurance coverage in bet-the-company litigation.
Mr. Jackson’s unique background in technology informs his legal approach, particularly in technology E&O, cyber and data privacy matters. Prior to law school, he worked in Silicon Valley as a network security consultant, IT Director for an Internet-based software company, and Director of Enterprise Technology for a national healthcare company. This blend of technical and legal expertise enables him to address complex technology-driven insurance matters with deep insight.
He graduated with high honors from The University of Texas School of Law and holds a B.A. from The University of Vermont. Mr. Jackson is a member of the Austin Bar Association's Civil Litigation Section and the Insurance Law Section of the State Bar of Texas. He is admitted to practice in Texas, including all federal districts and the Fifth Circuit.
